A master magician of classical artistry, Native American, Tamaka was introduced to the Art of Magic late in his life as he was a music an in an R&B group. Tamaka was a counselor for young people when he saw a magician who the organization hired to perform at their last night at the camp, come in and had the young people eating out of his hand. It was then that Tamaka said, "I got to learn how to do that." Tamaka went into the House of Magic, in San Francisco, and there meet the owner, Buma. He bought his first magic prop and started under the watchful eye of Buma, who became a great friend.
Because Buma liked selling the props to Tamaka he kept telling Tamaka to just focus on doing the box tricks. Needless to say Tamaka didn't just do the box tricks and graduated from the Chavez Course of magic under Dale Salwak. Tamaka received a solid grounding in the art of magic and continued it with instructions from Bob Fitch, a magician and a Broadway actor. It was in 1982 - 83 that tamaka joined the International Brotherhood of Magicians, Society of American Magicians and the Fellowship of Christian Magicians.
